How it works?

As a registered Flutterwave user, to start receiving international payments via PayPal all you need do is to head over to your dashboard and activate PayPal as part of your payment options.

As soon as that’s done, Flutterwave will process the transaction on your behalf, when you are set to receive an international payment.

PS: Note that you don’t need a PayPal account before you can start receiving your PayPal payments using Flutterwave. You’ll only need that if you want to make payments using PayPal.

If you’re not yet registered on the platform, you’ll have to set up your account on Flutterwave either as a business, NGO or an individual and after that’s done, you can now enable PayPal as part of your payment options.

Steps to receive PayPal payment using Flutterwave;

Open an account on Flutterwave

Now, the first step to receive payment on PayPal via Flutterwave is to open a merchant account on Flutterwave.com

To open this account, the following are some of the steps you need to take..

Visit the homepage, dashboard.flutterwave.com and then scroll down to; “Sign Up”.

Select the kind of account you’ll prefer; be it individual (suitable for freelancers), NGO or business for corporate accounts.

For freelancers, you’ll be required to provide your Business name, Address, Bank Verification Number, Account Number, Means of Identification etc. before you can proceed with the registration.

If you’re registering a business account, you’ll have to provide all the above, including your Tax Identity Number, Certificate of Incorporation, Memorandum of Association, Corporate Account Details Etc.

Your account is set; When you’re done filling the form, you will be automatically redirected to the homepage. As soon as you’re here, you’ll receive a welcome message to Flutterwave, indicating that your account is all set.

Add your Bank Details; To receive payment from your Flutterwave account after seeing the welcome message you’ll have to add your local banking details where your money will be sent in from Flutterwave.

Connecting PayPal to Flutterwave

To connect PayPal to Flutterwave, all you need do is to get over to the dashboard and enable PayPal as one of your payment options.

As soon as this is all set, you can add that payment option either to your website or generate the links and send to your clients as necessary.

Adding Flutterwave to your website

There are different options you can use to add Flutterwave to your website for a seamless processing of your payment. The following are some of the popular steps you can use…

Payment Links

To use Flutterwave to process your payment, after registering on the platform, you can create custom links which you will send to your clients for direct payment or add them up to your website.

The payment link will direct your clients to a customized page created for that particular payment. As soon as the payment button is clicked, a payment modal will show up, for the client to make payment, using the available channel.

Donation Page

Another way to receive payment from PayPal with Flutterwave is by the use of the donation page.

With a donation page, you have the option to customize the background features like text, pictures etc to suit with your brand.

You can also decide whether to set up the page for a one time or recurring payment like monthly donations etc.

Sales mode

With the sales mode feature, your clients can make a direct payment by inserting their payment credentials or ATM details into your device after which they can then proceed to make payment.

Flutterwave Plugins, SDK

Beyond the above listed options, Flutterwave also has a handful of plugins and softwares developed for use on websites and compatible with popular content management systems like WordPress, Joomla, Shopify etc.

Cost of using PayPal via Flutterwave

For each transaction you make via PayPal,  Flutterwave charges you a flat rate of 4.4% of the entire transaction value, including additional 0.30USD per transaction.

Does Flutterwave work for Individual accounts?

You can use your Flutterwave account as an individual but for now, to use the PayPal Payment gateway via Flutterwave, you need to have a registered business account.

Although there are plans to change this in the coming weeks, at the moment, the PayPal payment option is only available to business accounts. As soon as this is done, Freelancers without registered businesses will be able to use the platform.
